Bloemfontein – Every South African citizen needed to vote to make a difference, said Marilene Els who registered to vote for the first time on Sunday morning in Bloemfontein.

"I am very excited at the moment. It is finally happening, I am going to cast my vote in a few months," said Els at the Langenhovenpark voter registration station in Bloemfontein.
Els, 20, said her vote would give her the opportunity to complain if leaders did not make a difference.
"I was so angry two years back because I couldn't vote. It was literally two months before my birthday, so I'm finally going to vote," she said.
"Everyone needs to vote because we all have voices and we all live in this country and we just need to make a difference.
"A lot has been happening in this country and sometimes you are literally scared to get out of your own house, so it is good to vote."
A number of residents also flocked to the station to check their registration status or re-register.
Annelise Grobler, 53, said she hoped her individual vote would bring change in the country.
"It is not a racial thing but we just need change. Our leaders are not delivering what they promised us," Grobler said.
The Independent Electoral Commission in the Free State has deployed about 1 533 registration supervisors, 317 area managers and 117 registration officers for the weekend to assist voters.
