The military jets of Kenyan defense force (KDF) have pounded three Al shabaab strongholds near Jilib town in Somalia's southern middle Jubba region on Saturday.
The warplanes hit bases in Hargeisa Yarey vicinity which falls under the Al shabaab controlled Jilib town. Some of the missiles fired from the jets landed on agricultural fields, residents said.
The Kenyan army in Somalia use airpower to attack Al shabaab positions, in response to a deadly attack on KDF base in El Adde town on January 15, 2016 by armed militants.
Kenya sent troops to nighbouring Somalia in mid October, 2011 to tackle the security threats and kidnappings against aid workers and attacks on tourists by Al shabaab.
